Patient Opinion and Involvement in DRSS

The team is committed to listening to patients and learning from the unique perspective they have on how DRSS perform as services. We receive feedback from patients through letters and comments made to our staff which we take on board and learn from where possible.

We actively encourage patient feedback in two ways; through the Patient Opinion website and through patient surveys, both online and paper based. The responses that we receive are monitored, responded to and used to make improvements to the service wherever possible.

Patient Opinion

Patient Opinion is a website, run independently of the NHS, which publishes feedback received from patients about their experience of using the NHS. Patients can post about any service, regardless of whether or not that organisation has signed up. NHS Devon has subscribed and so, nominated individuals within the organisation, can reply to the patient comments received about our services. The team aim to reply to posts on Patient Opinion within 2 days.

Complaints and Feedback

Patients can give their general feedback directly to DRSS via email by contacting the helpdesk or calling 01626 883 888.

Patients who wish to make a formal complaint can do so by contacting the Patient Advice & Complaints Team via email at or phone 01392 267 665 or 0300 123 1672. DRSS will respond to any formal complaints in writing within 20 working days.

Practice Patient Participation Groups

GP Practice and Patient Participation Groups (PPG) have been working together for a while now, and recently DRSS was invited to attend a PPG in the Eastern locality. We were asked to provide a short presentation about the service we provide, the group found this helpful and it also generated some really good questions.

DRSS were able to answer the PPG queries and since this meeting we have also updated our patient leaflets on each of the DRSS DOSs with a new large print version. Please view the full overview for more detail.
